NEW INFO ON SITES THAT BUY VIDEO FOOTAGE

One of the best ways to learn is by going through the database of stock footage they have available and analyze the visual traits of the videos that perform well. There is generally a “sort” feature on each of the stock websites that allows you to sort by “most popular” or “most downloaded”. Examine these files. Are they regionally relevant? Professionally lit? do they use models and actors to communicate a point? Do they use dollies, jibs or other stabilization techniques to help add production value to their work? These are all questions you should be asking yourself before you start trying to build your own catalog of work.

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for dazzling, amazing, significant, and staggeringly beautiful motion and audio content of all categories and genres, including:

• classic stock video: fashion, lifestyle, sports, and location-based footage
• editorial and news content
• motion graphics, motion backgrounds, and VJ loops
• archival footage from all eras
• music beds and beats
• sound effects and ambient noise
• original songs, both digital and recorded.

Regardless of the style of your stock media, it should be of extremely high quality. Commercially-oriented work should be professionally shot or recorded and carefully chosen. Editorial and archival content should be informative, powerful, and tagged with accurate contextual information. Please use your good judgement in uploading your clips, and upload only those clips that are likely to be commercially viable.

Put Your Footage to Work for You

Step 1: Upload your work in the form of short (5-60 second) clips (or up to 10 minutes of audio). (All footage should adhere to our specific audio and video requirements). You will need access to a high-speed internet connection to do this, as video file sizes are sometimes very large.

If you do not have access to a high-speed internet connection, then you can submit your clips on data DVD or hard drive to the address listed on our contact page. Make sure to clearly mark any materials you send to us with your username and a return address.

After you upload your clips, we will automatically process them, creating a low-resolution, watermarked version for previewing, and extracting all the relevant technical information (duration, size, format, etc).

Step 2: Tag your clips with info, including a description, keywords, and a price. Using our intuitive Keyword Assistant, you can quickly add common keywords to your clip. Using our Tag Templates, you can process clips that share common tags at the same time. When you’re done, you submit your clips to a curator for review.

Step 3: Earn! After your clip has passed the review process, it will be placed online. Buyers everywhere will be able to search for, preview, pay for and download your content: instantly, online, 24-hours a day.

Each time a clip is purchased, you will be credited 50% of the price you have set. Each month, you will be able to receive your earnings by check or paypal.

Moving Forward with the plan

Hi Video Bums!
It has been a busy couple of weeks for all of us and I wanted to post an update and agenda for the coming weeks so we can get back on target.

What's been happening lately:

  • Dallas has been using the macbook pro to learn how to add a vb watermark to our current videos and learn more about Final Cut. Well done Dallas!
  • Krista has been drafting a business plan, researching the market, gathering educational materials, drafting forms, looking into legal avenues, grants, etc.
  • Jamie has been helping to compose biz plan, do research, and plan new projects. We are planning to create a video resume for Krista's teaching career. We discussed video resumes as a possibility before and think it's a good idea to practice using lighting, mics, etc. that way.
  • Yeeshkah has been working on the new office. Things are really coming along. We plan to get ready to move in by early August.
  • Sheila has been doing some independent work for Living the Green.
